The power of plants on our mental health

When it comes to our mental health, we often forget about the power of plants. We rely on medication to get us through tough times, but what we don’t realise is that nature can be just as effective.

Plants and herbs have been used for centuries to not only help the body physically, but also mentally and emotionally – clearing the mind, boosting mood, promoting relaxation and creating a sense of calm. Today, there is scientific evidence to back up these claims. Studies have shown that spending time in nature can decrease stress levels, improve moods, and boost cognitive performance.

One study found that office workers who had plants in their workspace reported feeling more alert and productive than those who didn’t have plants. So why exactly do plants have such an impact on our mental state?  Well, it all comes down to the power of nature. Being around plants can help us feel connected to the natural world.  The right plants can promote better sleep, soothe anxiety and depression, improve focus and memory, and boost energy levels.

In other words: plants have some serious power when it comes to clearing the mind.

The power of plants on our spirituality

A plant-based diet has helped to improve my connection to spirit.

It’s no coincidence that many spiritual Eastern cultures eat a predominantly plant-based diet. Eating a diet high in plants has helped me to become more open and sensitive to universal energies.

A plant-based diet has opened up my mind and brought me more clarity and intuition. All of the dark clouds rolled away, and suddenly all of the connections became clear again. It’s not just about what’s in your food — ingredients like wheat or sugar can weigh you down with mood swings and lethargy.

By avoiding heavy processed foods with high fat content, I’m better able to use my body’s vital resources for what they were intended — to keep me running throughout the day!

I’m more connected to nature and the universe, and can tap into my creativity to a greater extent. I can now focus with more clarity than I ever have before — it feels like a stronger sense of intuition is helping guide me through the day.

Heavier foods can dull your empathy and desensitise you to suffering. This is why I choose not to eat these types of food when I’m working with healing energies, my spirit guides or higher self.
